never say never

I used to say I would never want to be alone.

I used to say my child would never throw tantrums in public.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

Whoops.

My child throws tantrums. And I'm sitting at home alone and loving it.

Never say never.

Seriously don't. It's a sure sign it will happen.

Don't feel sorry for hubster. He's also having fun. At a high school basketball game. With junior.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

I also never thought I could do anything like blogging. I'm not much for venturing out to new experiences, but having a baby changes everything.

Apparently, you realize you can't lose anymore dignity than what you lost in the delivery room.

Can I get an Amen?

One reason I love blogging is that I have got to meet so many lovely people. I love that I can get onto my dashboard and read funny, helpful, insightful, religious, crafty, motherly, crazy blogs.

My featured blogger for this month is Abbey at The Makings of a Mess. She is oh-so-adorable, funny, genuine, and a fellow teacher. She also does a much better job of keeping up with her blog than I. One of my favorite posts of her's {or anyone's} was the day after the Sandy Hook tragedy. It is brief but filled with so many words of wisdom, and I felt it was a compassionate//heart-felt//respectful response to what happened.

Meet the lovely Abbey...

Why did you start blogging?

I actually blogged quite a bit in high school, but...for the sake of keeping this short and sweet, I began blogging again last year to document my first year as a teacher. That sort of fizzled out as writing about teaching pretty much drained the life out of me, so I began focusing on other things in life. What was going on daily, important people in my life. And that's what I continue to write about. The positive [and maybe not so awesome] moments in life along with squeezing in a few fun kindergarten moments in my posts these days! [My job is much less stressful, so I am enjoying what I do a lot more!]

What do you love about blogging? What do you not love?

I absolutely love the community that is built within blogging! I have "met' some incredibly amazing women who I have come to trust and share things that I don't always share with my real life friends! I am so grateful for the connections that are able to be made and the ones that I have made thus far.

Sometimes it can be hard to keep up with blogging. There are times when I get so exhausted, don't have anything to write about or just flat out don't want to write! Yes, I said it, blogging can exhaust you at times.

What is your favorite movie? TV show?

I have a ton of favorite movies, but one that I think is too hilarious is Bridesmaids. Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Melissa McCarthy are such a dynamic group of ladies. Plus, if you like a little potty humor, you might get a kick out of it.

I have become a Netflix TV show junky, but a few that I've been catching in real time are 90210, Gossip Girl [the series just ended...ah!], and Parenthood. That one definitely hits close to home as I come from a dysfunctional family and that's the basis of the show.

If you could move your entire home and family anywhere, where would you go?

What a tough question! I would most likely go somewhere south. I love the warm weather, but really...as long as I'm with the people I love and traffic is not incredibly insane, I think I can survive! [Oh, and there must be a Target and TJ Maxx close by too!] Hey...I'm easy to please, friends!

If you had an entire weekend with no responsibilities, what would you do?

Why must you ask such tough questions? Hah! Honestly, I'm an incredibly chill person and a huge homebody. I'd love to eat myself silly and relax with my silly man. [I'm so adventurous, can you tell?]

What advice would you give to someone just starting to blog?

Be yourself. Write for you. People don't have to agree with everything you say. We are each entitled to our own opinions, so share them without trying to offend others. But also write what you feel comfortable writing. Nobody is making you say anything you don't want to! So share what your cute hearts desire! Also, don't be afraid to reach out to other bloggers, big or small. Comment them. Tweet them. You'd be surprised how many respond with their kind words. [Or sarcastic, silly, whatever. We're all human.]

And, here are a few of Abbey's favorite posts she wrote {other than the one I mentioned above}:
A Trip Down Hair Lane
This Kid's Got JOKES!
