chase in vain

I used to have two cats.

Last year, the black one, Noah, died unexpectedly.

I was sad. Hubster secretly smiled.

Today about brought the death of miss cute calico, Kate. And it about gave me a stroke.

Ever have to cancel a vet appointment because you can't get your cat in the carrier?

Embarrassing.

I chased dear Kate all around the house. Up and down the stairs {5ish times}. Under the bed. Behind large tanks of something in the basement. And behind the washer.

I caught her a few times, but apparently am not strong enough to get a cat in her little pet carrier.

I am, however, strong enough to move a washer I found out.

After realizing my heart rate was approximately 160 and I was sweating and beginning to yell, I decided to retreat.

She has yet to apologize.

  1. I have learned with my cat to pick him up first and then grab the carrier haha.

  2. Cats are amazing, that's for sure.
I remember when my Tortious Shell (Brindle) cat Niko, was in the engine compartment of someone's car when I was a kid... keeping warm (Niko was notoriously an outdoor cat) Apparently the driver of the car started the engine, and he got "thwacked" (my mom's word) with the fan blade. It broke his pelvis in 3 places. Anyway, in order to keep him from running around the house, we put a playpen upside down over him, and SURROUNDED IT with 90lbs of freeweights... And, howling, he moved the ENTIRE playpen several feet...

That said.. I do have a suggestion for putting your cat in the carrier...
When I was a child, I used to put my niko in a pillowcase and carry him like a sack of potatoes (probably why he retreated outdoors I'm sure) anyway, it's easy to get them in a pillowcase... they DON'T like carriers... then put the pillowcase open end inside the carrier. The cat will escape the pillowcase to the carrier.

Ok... Now that I've said that, let me tell you that I've nominated your blog for a Liebster Award! Check out what that means for you here!
